The 45-year-old actress has resoundingly proven she has a range far beyond that iconic sitcom ‘Friends’ and the string of romantic comedies, including ‘Marley & Me’ which have followed. Her dramatic role in ‘Cake’ may have not given her the much-expected Best Actress Oscar, but she did indeed get the SAG Award and Golden Globe Award nods.

Now as award season heats up she’s the recipient of the Montecito Award which is no small honor; it is bestowed annually to someone who has made a significant contribution to film. Now in its 30th year, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) shines a much-needed spotlight on films and performances that perhaps might otherwise be overlooked. While Cannes and Toronto might be more well known to the general public, for the film aficionado, holds a special place.

In her acceptance speech at the ceremony, held at held at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara, Aniston said in part, “I’m truly grateful because I love what I do and I have such…” She trailed off as she became visually emotional and the crowd cheered for her. Regaining her composure, she went on to say, “I really just feel so humbled and I can’t believe I’m getting paid to do this for almost 25 years…I didn’t realize I was old enough to get one of these.” She said she felt she’s just beginning, just, in her words, “scratching the surface.”

Jennifer Aniston was a hit on the podium with her sincerity and humility and, as photos reveal, she was a red carpet sensation in a dark pantsuit, and displaying her eight-carat diamond engagement ring. Fiance Justin Theroux was also in tow.
