Tina Fey and Amy Poehler delivered a scorching opening monologue at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards show, taking on the Bill Cosby sexual assault allegations, the Sony hacking, George Clooney and much more. As always, the famed awards show hosting duo took no prisoners and the video is going viral.
Yes, the third time around, and the comedians did deliver some zingers. Tina Fey had already warned the public — or perhaps delighted the public — by saying in interviews that Bill Cosby was not off limits.
Indeed that was the case. As they took to the stage, Fey naturally delivered the expected scolding of the star-studded audience at the Beverly Hills Hilton as they sat at their tables drinking and devouring a meal. She called them a “bunch of despicable, spoiled, minimally talented brats” which alludes of course to the emails of Sony executives that were leaked as a result of the massive hacking of Sony Pictures’ Web site. It was Angelina Jolie who was so infamously described.
Bill Cosby was not far behind as they deftly linked him with Sleeping Beauty, as several of his alleged victims claim he drugged them before raping or attempting to rape them. Thus it was said of the iconic Sleeping Beauty that she “thought she was just getting coffee with Bill Cosby.”
And, on a more uplifting note, Tina Fey had great fun at George Clooney’s expense, as he was slated to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Humanitarian Award, she simply delivered some of the high points of his wife, Amal Clooney’s impressive work as a renown attorney specializing in human rights and international law. It was a priceless moment, as the stunningly beautiful Amal Clooney who blends in so perfectly among Hollywood’s A list has had a long and formidable career on the world stage which some might say puts Hollywood “achievement” in perspective.
Well, as they say, a good time was had by all, even if some might have been the brunt of jokes. But that goes with the Hollywood award season life! Check out the video below of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler delivering their rousing Golden Globes monologue. Savor it for they have said this is the last time they will host the annual gala.
