Mickey Rourke returned to the boxing ring at age 62, for the first time in 20 years. The actor defeated his 29-year-old opponent in Moscow and the video of his TKO victory has gone viral. Watch the full fight and find out more about his remarkable comeback.
It’s an understatement to say that the star of the critically acclaimed Darren Aronofsky movie ‘The Wrestler’ became a sensation online and in social media in particular with news of his victory spreading rapidly
The fight, as noted, took place in Russia in Moscow. His opponent was the 29-year-old Elliot Seymour and he won with a TKO (technical knockout in the second round) as seen in the video below. For those who were still recovering from Thanksgiving or blitzed out on Black Friday, here was something new and unexpected to grab attention.
Mickey Rourke’s last fight was in 1994 and much is being made both of that long hiatus as well as his age, 62, and his amazing, chiseled and heavily tattooed physique. Reportedly he lost approximately 30 pounds, but regardless of the number of pounds lost it’s clear he’s packed on some impressive muscle and put it to good use.
He is also notably much leaner than he was in the aforementioned ‘The Wrestler’ which served as his comeback role. Fans also know him for his role in Iron Man 2. And, of course, these days thanks to the longevity of action heroes such as Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liam Nieson we’ve grown accustomed to stars who defy stereotypes of aging.
His career as both critically acclaimed and celebrated actor and boxer is an unusual one, and his years of boxing n the 1990s reportedly led to facial damage and that, reportedly led to plastic surgery. As such, he’s been subjected to the usual scrutiny celebrities get who presumably have gone under the knife.
But he is back in the ring, and the video of Mickey Rourke’s boxing victory is below!
