The 38-year-old Julie Kay Werkheiser (photo above) is a dance teacher and the owner of Studio J. Dance in Waverly, New York. She is also a resident of Waverly.
According to WBNG quoting the Waverly Police Department, Werkheiser is alleged to have sexually assaulted a young child. It is further alleged that the sexual abuse took place at a dance studio in Waverly between 2004 and 2007.
After a “lengthy investigation” conducted by the Waverly Police Department — and assisted by the New York State Police — Tioga County Court issued a warrant and Werkheiser was arrested. She was booked into Tioga County and charged with felonies as follows: two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child and two counts of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. She was indicted by a grand jury and remains held in jail without bail.
