Dena Marie Konrad a public school employee in Des Moines, Iowa who has been arrested and charged with of sexual exploitation by a school employee for alleged sexual contact with a 17-year-old male student.

The 33-year-old Dena Marie Konrad (mugshot photo above) is a Des Moines Public Schools employee who works at Lincoln High School. She is a resident of Norwalk, Iowa.

According to The Des Moines Register the Des Moines Police Department began their investigation when family members of the alleged victim — a 17-year-old male who was a student at the high school — informed school officials of Konrad’s improper conduct. Family members alleged there had been sexual contact between the boy and the teacher which took place during the summer.

An investigation was conducted during the weekend and according to KCCI, it was determined that the alleged sexual encounters did not take place on school grounds.

Konrad was arrested and booked into Polk County jail. She was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee. This is a felony offense with a maximum sentence of five years. She was held in jail without bond.

No additional details of Dena Marie Konrad’s bio and professional background, were reported other than her employment at Lincoln High School. The Des Moines Register, reports that she is a SUCCESS case manager at the school where she is “responsible for building relationships with students and families to coordinate services for at-risk students.”

KCCI quotes Sgt. Jason Halifax of the Des Moines Police Department who said of Konrad and her role at the school, “It’s very disturbing that someone in that position would expose a child to this type of environment…She was in a position that has an impact on the child on their direction in school, and possibly on their direction in life.”

Both the newspaper and KCCI confirmed via the school district that Konrad was placed on administrative leave when the allegations surfaced, pending the outcome of the investigation.
