Mary Gilles is a former Catholic school teacher in Minnesota who has been arrested and charged for the alleged sexual assault of an underage male student.
The 28-year-old Mary Gilles (mugshot photo above) was a math teacher at Pacelli High School in Austin, Minnesota. She has been fired from her job in the aftermath of the investigation and arrest.
According to the Star-Tribune quoting the police chief, Giles was arrested on suspicion of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The arrest took place at her apartment which is located approximately half a mile from Pacelli High School. Additional details were not reported pending the filing of the criminal complaint by the Mower County attorney’s office.
The newspaper goes on to quote officials speaking on behalf of the Diocese of Winona who confirmed the alleged victim was a minor and a male and that the school had notified the police saying, in part, that the school “has adopted procedures and a protocol to identify sexual abuse and immediately report suspicious activity to law enforcement.”
KMSP in Minneapolis quotes a written statement from the Diocese of Winona which says in part: “Our prayers go out to those who have suffered child sexual abuse and who have been harmed. We encourage anyone with information regarding child sexual abuse to immediately report that information to law enforcement and we remain committed to protect all God’s children.”
