The superstar diva has just embarked on her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour and during her Tokyo concert she sang one of Billie Holiday’s classic blues songs, ‘Don’t Explain.’ The original line is “I know you cheat” by Mariah Carey embellished it significantly and profanely singing, “I know you cheated motherf—er” as can plainly be heard in the video below.

Autobiography? That’s been the assumption. Even the original Billie Holiday song is rooted in real life, as the legendary blues singer penned it about her husband at the time, Jimmy Monroe. However, the tone of the original is quite a bit less angry, as Holiday merely sang “And I know you cheat / Right or wrong, don’t matter / When you’re with me, sweet.”

But Mariah Carey is in quite different circumstances, as tabloid stories circulate and Nick Cannon himself has made public comments, and apparently was not feeling attuned to the original lyrics. While he has denied cheating rumors, there are unconfirmed stories that he did cheat on her, particularly with Amber Rose who has recently split from her husband Wiz Khalifa.

The concert has drawn attention for other reasons as well, as she has been criticized for not being her best vocally. As US Weekly reports, specifically fans took her to task for failing to hit all of her high notes in such songs as “Hero” and “Vision of Love.” She also had equipment struggles as well, namely with an uncooperative microphone stand as she was performing “We Belong Together.”

But the updated lyrics have generated much of the social media chatter. Watch the video of the performance which has launched such speculation below; the now infamously changed line is at the 4:30 mark.
