Haivan Bui is a high school chemistry teacher in Texas who has been arrested and charged for allegedly manufacturing illicit drugs, including date rape drugs. Her husband, Chris Hartwell, was also arrested.
The 29-year-old Haivan Bui (mugshot photo above ) is a chemistry teacher at Oak Ridge High School which is part of the Conroe Independent School District. She also teaches at Lone Star College. She is a resident of The Woodlands, Texas which is near Houston. Her name is various spelled as Hai Van Bui.
According to KHOU, quoting from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office sources, deputies executed a search warrant for the home in The Woodlands where she lives with her husband, 33-year-old Chris Hartwell (full name, Chris Alan Hartwell). He was arrested at the home during the raid according to police authorities. Haivan Bui was not at the home at that time.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit and the Conroe Independent School District Police Department arrested Haivan Buiat Oak Ridge High School on Friday. She had “date rape recipes” in her backpack according to the investigators. Also found were recipes for methamphetamine, marijuana and several prescription medications as well as for Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate which is a compound found in date rape drugs.
According to Click2Houston.com Haivan Bui was charged with possession with intent to deliver or manufacture a controlled substance. She is being held on $50,000 bond. Her husband, Chris Hartwell, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of aggravated possession of a controlled substance and a felon in possession of a firearm.
As for additional information on Haivan Bui’s bio no other details were reported other than her employment at Oak Ridge High School (part of the Conroe ISD) and Lone Star College. According to a statement from Conroe ISD, obtained by Chron.com she had been employed at the high school since June 2013.
