Updated below. Crystal Chappell is a teacher in Bullitt County, Kentucky who has been arrested and charged with rape for allegedly having sex with a student.
The 24-year-old Crystal Chappell (mugshot photo above) is a math teacher at Bullitt Central High in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
According to WHAS 11 she was arrested under suspicions of having sex with a student after school officials reported allegations to police authorities. The age and gender of the alleged victim are details which have been released.
Police arrested Crystal Chappell and she was booked into Bullitt County Detention Center. She has been charged with one count of third-degree rape. She remains in custody. The report goes on to note that according to the law in the state of Kentucky educators as well as other authority figures can be so charged if they have sexual contact with a minor whom they are supervising.
According to WAVE 3 News quoting an attorney for Bullitt County Public Schools, Chappell was suspended from her job when school officials heard of allegations against her from students.
As for Crystal Chappell’s bio and professional background, no additional details were reported.
* Update. According to WDRB, quoting the arrest report, Chappell is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old student on eight separate occasions beginning in June of this year.
The report further states that when questioned by the Shepherdsville Police Department Chappell allegedly admitted to the sexual encounters with the student when the Shepherdsville Police Department questioned her. She is alleged to have said that she had sex with the student on six occasions in Bullitt County and on two occasions outside of Bullitt County.
During a court appearance the judge entered a not guilty plea and her Chappell’s bond was set at $25,000 and she remains incarcerated.
