The 22-year-old Alicia Walicke of Cedar Park, Texas is smiling in her mugshot (above) which like her story has gone viral as it is the kind of story that social media loves. While it may sound like perhaps a scene from a romantic comedy, it is a true event, documented in an arrest affidavit.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, quoting from the arrest warrant, Alicia Walicke took a $3.99 bottle of cheap wine manufactured by Mogen David and commonly known as Mad Dog 20/20 wine from the shelf of a Shell gas station in Cedar Park, Texas. She was found by the police next to the station and was drinking the wine.
The warrant states that “Walicke advised her boyfriend was arrested earlier that evening by Cedar Park Officers and it was her fault so she wanted to make things right and go to jail.”
She was indeed arrested and was booked into Williamson County jail and was charged with misdemeanor theft. Upon posting $5,000 bond she was released.
It is unknown as to whether or not Alicia Walicke achieved the objective of seeing her boyfriend in jail, nor was the name or the details of the crime that the boyfriend committed made public, via the arrest warrant. But, as noted, the story and the booking photo have nonetheless become fodder for online amusement ever since.
