The 53-year-old Shari Walters (mugshot above) was arrested and the local story has made headlines all over the world for due to the nature of the allegations.

According to KOAT, quoting the criminal complaint, Walters allegedly attempted to poison her roommates Beverly Bradley and Bradley’s brother, Jeffrey in the aftermath of the discovery that she had allegedly been having sex with Bradley’s two dogs, both German shepherds.

Beverly Bradley told police that she had “caught Walters lying nude inside a shed on their property having sex with her dog, Spike,” according to the criminal complaint.

Upon making the discovery the roommate was “shocked” and went back into the home where she wanted for Walters to return. The criminal complaint states that upon her return, Walters admitted she had had sex with the dog. The roommate told her brother Jeffrey Bradley, who was Walters’ boyfriend. He then broke up with her, according to the criminal complaint “because she was having sex with dogs.”

The roommate and the ex-boyfriend had dinner with Walters later that same evening. Both observed that they were drinking a “strangely colored” liquid and their food tasted different. They both experienced “minor symptoms” thereafter and Walters told them that the food contained toilet bowl cleaner and rubbing alcohol.

According to Albuquerque Journal, the complaint also states that Walters told the ex-boyfriend she had been having sex with dogs since she was 14 years old.

According to the criminal complaint both of the roommates required additional medical treatment after having ingested the chemicals. Both of the dogs were examined by a veterinarian who found minor injuries. One of the dogs was found to have “unusual symptoms” which could be indicative of sexual abuse.

Walters was taken into custody and sent to a hospital for a mental evaluation, and later was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque. She was charged with aggravated battery, cruelty or extreme cruelty to animals, and assault with intent to commit a violent felony and is being held on on $20,000 cash bail.
