Hope Solo was arrested in Seattle, Washington. The Team USA Olympic gold medalist soccer star was charged for an alleged domestic violence incident involving her sister and her 17-year-old nephew.
The arrest of the 32-year-old Hope Solo, presently the goalie for the Seattle Reign FC, has been reported locally in the city even as it has made news far beyond the state of Washington.
According to Seattle Times, officers of the Kirkland Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a disturbance at a suburban Seattle residence. The male caller alleged that a woman was “hitting people” and that no one could get her to stop or to leave the residence.
When police arrived at the house they found several people. The woman mentioned by the 911 caller was identified as the soccer star, Hope Solo who is also known as Hope A. Stevens — her married name; she is married to Jerramy Stevens — was described by police as appearing to be intoxicated as well as upset. Police also indicate that both Hope Solo’s sister and her 17-year-old nephew had visible injuries.
After conducting interviews, police determined that Solo was the instigator and aggressor and it is she who was arrested and taken into custody and booked into the south King County detention facility. She was charged with two counts of fourth degree Domestic Violence Assault.
Hope Solo has not made a public statement regarding her arrest. In the meantime, U.S. Soccer released a statement: “We are aware of the situation. At this point, we don’t have any further comments.”
The Seattle Reign FC also issued a statement” “We are aware of the situation regarding Hope Solo and are currently gathering information. We have no further comments at this time.”
