While finishing high school as an adult is usually an admirable and commendable goal, doing so under a false identity is not. Such is what allegedly has happened in Longview, Texas where Charity Anne Johnson (mugshot photo above; more pictures below) attended school at New Life Christian School as a sophomore.

According to KTLV, she was arrested by Longview police when she gave the false name, “Charity Stevens” — which she had been using at the school — as well as a false birth date.

Johnson was booked into Gregg County Jail and charged with failure to identify and giving false, fictitious information. She is being held in jail on $500 bond.

As for how it came about that Johnson attended school under an alleged false identity for such a long time, the station quotes an unnamed school spokesperson who said that she was accompanied by a guardian when she enrolled at the school with the assumed name and birth date which would indicate her age to be 15. She had been a student at the school since October 2013. School officials discovered earlier in the week that she had been using a fake ID.

The guardian, Tamica Lincoln, told KLTV that she had taken in “Charity Stevens” who had said she was a fifteen-year-old and needed somewhere to stay. Lincoln said, “I sympathized with her, and invited her into my home. I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes.”

Charity had told her that both of her biological parents had died and that the father had abused her. Lincoln became her guardian and in that capacity had met with her teachers at the school. She told the station that when she became suspicious that Charity was using a false identity she contacted the police and went to the school.

Lincoln went on to tell the station, “Teachers were crying and students were crying, and her best friend just couldn’t believe it.”

Details of the true Charity Anne Johnson biography are of extreme interest. In the effort to get the real story, Tamica Lincoln posted her photo on Facebook. She said that she made contact with four women in the aftermath who are from Florida, Minnesota as well as in Longview, Texas and that none of them wanted any further contact with Johnson.

The story is developing. Check back for updates. Meanwhile a video report is below along with some pictures of Charity Anne Johnson posing as the 15-year-old “Charity Stevens” below.
