Updated below. Surveillance video of Solange Knowles, sister of Beyonce, physically attacking Jay Z in an elevator after a Met Gala party has gone viral. TMZ obtained the video which shows Knowles striking her brother-in-law even as a bodyguard attempts to restrain her.
According to TMZ, the video is from a surveillance camera in the elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City, and the event — the physical fight that unfolds — happened after the Met Gala which all three had attended (pictures above). The nearly one-minute of silent footage appears to show a physical altercation between a woman who looks like Solange Knowles against a man who appears to be Jay Z with an onlooking Beyonce.
The circumstances that led to such a fight are unknown thus far, as none of the three have offered a public comment directly or through their reps.
And of course, that’s the other issue. How to respond now that a video of what had been a private moment is released without context or explanation. For celebrities, it seems almost impossible to avoid the watchful eye of TMZ and such is the case here. While it was not one of their own ubiquitous videographers, it was instead, the site’s ingenuity in obtaining a video which otherwise would never have been released and gone viral.
There are also some photos of all three — Solange Knowles, Jay Z and Beyonce — walking out of the building looking as if something has happened and you can see them at TMZ; direct link here.
