Is Melissa & Joey the next best thing in family comedy? The sitcom that features former childhood stars Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence has just hit pay dirt. The series has been renewed for another season according to TVLine after premiering the second half of its first season a few weeks ago.
It looks like the duo and all their antics will be back next year. Find out more on the story below.
“Melissa & Joey have proven to be a comedic powerhouse, with wonderful chemistry that has resonated with viewers in the tradition of great television pairings,” said ABC Family president Michael Riley. “As our focus on comedy continues to develop, we’re delighted to see it return next year as an integral part of the network’s expanding slate of original series.”
If you have seen the show, you’d know that Melissa & Joey operate off a very familiar formula. The show is like the Who’s the Boss of the 21st century. Joey Lawrence plays the caregiver/babysitter of Melissa’s three children. He’s the exact opposite of her character. He’s a free spirit and womanizer, while she’s a straight forward career woman.
When you look at the premise, you can almost see how it will all end. The story looks all too familiar to us. The second season of Melissa & Joey is slated to air in 2012, and while the network has given them the green light, the gymnastics drama Make it or Break it is still in limbo.
How can Melissa & Joey have such a sure future but Make it or Break it doesn’t? The latter is definitely more entertaining and compelling than the former. We hope ABC Family makes the right decision and gives the show another season.
What do you think of ABC Family’s decision to renew Melissa & Joey? Do you watch the show?
