Martha “Marty” Cobb is a Southwest Airlines flight attendant whose comedic flight safety speech is drawing notice far and wide as the video goes viral. See photos and find out more about the woman who created and delivered lively and humorous safety instructions that almost make flying fun again!
The 49-year-old flight attendant got the proverbial ball rolling when she herself posted a YouTube video of her fight safety instructions and noted in the title, “Hilarious SWA Flight attendant- In Mid Life Crisis MUST meet Ellen and Jimmy Fallon!!”
Martha “Marty” Cobb more than lives up to the description. How many of us, as we settle in for what we hope will be a smooth and uneventful flight hear a flight attendant get on the intercom and tell us, “Can I pretend to have your attention for just a few moments? My ex-husband, my new boyfriend and their divorce attorney are going to show you the safety features of this 737-800.”
Yes, and it just gets better from there, as millions who have watched Cobb on YouTube have already discovered. And speaking of discovery, if she wants to meet Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Fallen, well, there’s a saying that goes, “Be careful what you wish for!” The usual media rounds seem almost a sure bet. Television loves a good human interest story especially one with a humorous twist. Who knows? Southwest Airlines might suddenly have a job opening as its latest star flies without benefit of aircraft.
And with all of the Internet buzz — and media attention as well Good Morning America, Today, Inside Edition etc. — this leaves may curious to know just who is this SWA flight attendant who is both beautiful and blond and has tremendous comedic wit?
First of all we find that being no stranger to social media, quite a few of the details of the Martha “Marty” Cobb biography come courtesy of the woman herself. She has an extensive Facebook account with numerous pictures and she describes herself as a “Sky Goddess at Southwest Airlines.” Yes, a most fitting job title! She is straight out of central casting a la 1960s airline stewardesses, much as we saw in the now cancelled TV series ‘Pan Am.’ No doubt an official Facebook fan page seems the next step!
She also notes that she lives in Dallas and is from Lubbock, Texas native and is a graduate of Monterey High School as well as Texas Tech university with a degree in Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Management. We also find that she has three adult children, a son and two daughters, whose photos she has also posted: Heath Parkman, Elizabeth Hagan and Haley Parkman.
You can watch the viral video of her comedic routine — without benefit of having to fly! — and see more Martha “Marty” Cobb’s pictures below.
