Chelsey Wheeler, a high school science teacher in Illinois, was arrested and charged with sexual assault for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.
The 24-year-old Chelsey Wheeler (mugshot photo above) was a science teacher at West Carroll High School in Savanna, Illinois, which is located in the northwestern part of the state on the Mississippi river. Her name is variously reported at Chelsey J. Wheeler and she is a resident of nearby Lanark, Illinois.
According to Quad City Times quoting from official police sources, Chelsey Wheeler turned herself in to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office when an arrest warrant was issued. She was charged with felony criminal sexual assault which carries a prison sentence of four to 15 years. She posted bond and was released the same day.
The newspaper also received confirmation from the West Carroll School District superintendent that Wheeler resigned from her teaching position on April 4 and that she had been employed by the district since 2012.
No additional details were reported other than that the case is still under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Illinois State Police and the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office.
A report by Fox-18 confirms the age of the alleged victim is 17 and that he was a student at West Carroll High School at the time of the alleged incidents.
