Tanikka Queen is a substitute teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada who has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies including sexual assault for an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student.
The 22-year-old Tanikka Queen (mugshot photo above) is also known as Bella Queen. She was employed a substitute geography teacher in the Clark County School District school system, and was at Hyde Park Middle School during the time the incidents in question took place.
According to the Fox5Vegas.com, quoting from the official Las Vegas police report, she is alleged to have had a two-week long sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student, an eighth grader at the school. The boy’s father became suspicious and contacted school officials.
When interviewed initially by the police, the alleged victim acknowledged having spent time with the teacher, but denied having had a sexual relationship with her.
Police investigators interviewed Tanikka Queen and also uncovered evidence including numerous text messages from her mobile phone which she had exchanged with the alleged victim. Investigators also found numerous phone calls and photos.
Among the incriminating texts, according to the police report was this one from Queen: “You should know how I feel by now. I’m serious, I’m putting my job on the line talking to you, so how can I not be serious?” In another text she told the boy that people were getting suspicious and that they had to “cool it down.” Some of the text messages reveal their plans to meet both at restaurants and at a local park.
Also according to the report, while in custody Queen admitted a sexual relationship with the teenager and told police: “I am in love with [name redacted]. I have never been in love before.”
Tanikka Queen was arrested and booked into jail at Clark County Detention Center. She was charged with several felonies which include first-degree kidnapping, sexual assault against a child under 16, statutory sexual seduction and luring a child to engage in a sex act. According to Fox 5 the kidnapping charge stems from the aforementioned text messages in which they arranged their get togethers. Queen remains in held in jail.
As for the background and bio details of Tanikka Queen, little has been reported in media other than that she has been removed from a list of approved substitute teachers in the Clark County School District school system. The amount of circumstantial evidence in the case has caused alarm in the region and drawn national and international attention as well, as once again, there are serious allegations of sexual misconduct by an educator.
