Britney Spears had a wardrobe malfunction during a live performance of her’Piece of Me’ show in Las Vegas. Captured on Instagram photos and video, the pop superstar’s costume became unzipped.
With so many costume changes and with the costumes being as skimpy as they are, a wardrobe malfunction for Britney Spears seemed inevitable. It was a matter of time as she had just kicked off her 100-concert two-year residency in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
The mishap occurred on her second night, during her performance of ‘Circus,’ title track of her comeback album of 2008 and tour of the same title. As the pictures above and below reveal, the tight dress was unzipped in the back but her backup dancers were quick to keep a mishap from becoming an X-rated spectacle that would live on and on in YouTube viral video perpetuity.
It all happened so quickly — remarkably so — with no break in the choreography, let alone the show. But nonetheless, for the performer, it can’t be anything but a jolting experience; after all as you’re in the midst of performing and your costume is falling down, you don’t know how much you will wind up exposing! You hope against hope it’s nothing really serious like a nip slip. But yet, it’s the last thing you want to focus on; you’ve got lines to sing, dance steps to pace through.
It was just Britney Spears’ second live concert, the night after her inaugural performance which won her several rave reviews from music critics. Her celebrity attendees that night were numerous, including the provocateur Miley Cyrus who briefly took part in the show from the front row. Selena Gomez, Katy Perry and Adam Lambert were among other fellow music artists who had shown up that first night.
These days, let’s face it, a wardrobe malfunction will get attention. As the two years of Britney Spears’ residency lurch on, it will not be a surprise to hear suddenly of another such incident, and it will bring a new onslaught of publicity.
