What is Karyn Parson’s, who played Hillary Banks in “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air doing now? The actress was a permanent fixture of the popular nineties (1990-1996) TV show starring Will Smith (“Independence Day”).
She played the ditzy, spoiled cousin of the Fresh Prince himself, Will. The situations she was in were often so ridiculous and she did such a great job of playing the part that she was a favorite in the show.
So what has Karyn been up to lately? She was, after all, very talented and pretty. In a recent interview with Yahoo.com she talks about working with Will Smith and what is going on in her life.
“He has charisma to spare. He comes in a room and it’s all him.” she explained of Will. “We hung out together as a family, we got along great and had a lot of fun.”
As far as if she knew that Will Smith would become a superstar when they where working together she said, “Not really, not until he did “Independence Day” and “Men in Black”. That’s when I knew that he was gone.”
Karyn started Sweet Blackberry and she explains that her mother was a librarian and she worked in South Central L.A. and was head of the largest black resource center in California. She came across incredible stories about black history. This inspired her to create this organization that makes animated films for kids about black heroes.
During the interview she was asked if she is still acting or has walked away from that life as she does not live in L.A. “I stopped and started (many times). After I had kids it became difficult to balance both lives. I was also in New York a lot, flying back and forth.”
She said it became very difficult and was stressful so she decided to step back and get more involved with Sweet Blackberry which was near and dear to her heart.
After she finished with Fresh Prince, she only played small parts on TV shows until 2002 when she stopped altogether.
