If you’re a fan of crossover films, you’ll love Jesus Hates Zombies. We know what your thinking: How can Jesus hate anything? He’s Jesus! Well, this is all for the sake of entertainment. Eric Balfour who recently starred and directed a short in the indie flick Do Not Disturb, is gearing up to make his feature directorial debut!
Jesus Hates Zombies, will reunite the actor-turned-director with his producer/actress/writer Mali Elfman, whom he worked with on Do Not Disturb. If you think that’s keeping it in the family, there’s more six degrees of separation than meets the eye.
According to a recent press announcement from Balfour, the screenplay for Jesus Hates Zombies will be an adaption of the graphic novel by Stephen Lindsay. Michael Mongillo and Jason Alan Smith co-wrote the script for the film, and if Smith’s name sounds familiar it’s probably because he was one of the actors featured in, you guessed it, Do Not Disturb! Everything’s coming full circle.
Here’s an official statement from Balfour regarding his latest endeavor!
“It’s an honor to be a part of this project. It’s bold, unapologetic, and controversial. When I read the script I was blown away by how well the writers had given life to Stephen’s graphic novel. What most intrigued me about the project was it’s heart and message. There is plenty of comedy and action in the script but what I wasn’t expecting and am most excited about bringing to the screen is it’s message of love and faith. I love when a script can break the mold and offer something unique and I’m going to work my ass off to honor Michael and Jason’s great script, and Stephen’s fantastically unique world. The way I see it Jesus was a bad ass and a revolutionary, who better to save humanity from the zombie apocalypse than JC.” – Eric Balfour
Jesus Hates Zombies is currently in development and on it’s way into pre-production. What do you think? Are you interested in seeing the film?
